Club Bastion e.V.

At Club Bastion there is something for every musical taste, from jazz and blues to rock 'n' roll and punk.

The club hosts around 70 events every year and is the venue for the two-day Rollschuhplatz Open-Air Music Festival. Since 2001, it has also presented summer concerts on the bastion itself, high above the rooftops of Kirchheim.
The bastion was built in around 1500 and was probably extended to its current size from around 1535. The rapid modernisation of artillery made this necessary. The sheer size of this ancient bastion is best appreciated in the present-day events hall. There were five such bastions in Kirchheim but only this and the one at the palace are still intact.

The unique atmosphere of the building and the proximity between the performers and the audience make Club Bastion a hugely popular venue.
