Historical Half-Timbered Town Vaihingen an der Enz

Historical Half-Timbered Town Vaihingen an der Enz

Vaihingen an der Enz is situated on the Deutsche Fachwerkstraße, a route linking towns with a particular abundance of timber-framed architecture, and is a member of the Arbeitsgemeinschaft Deutsche Fachwerkstädte e.V. (German Association of Half-Timbered Towns). Both the medieval town centre and the outlying districts are characterised by their picturesque, half-timbered buildings; the oldest in the town, dating from the 12th century, can be found in Mühlstraße. The marketplace, too, boasts several half-timbered structures. The most photographed motif in the town is the "Vaihinger Dreiklang". This triad, consisting of the town hall, Kaltenstein Castle and the Protestant parish church, is visible from the marketplace.
